How a solo pelvic floor PT built and launched a diastasis recti app on her own with Movement

Monica McCormick

Dr. Amelia May, PT, DPT has spent her career doing the kind of pelvic health work that most people don't know they need until they do. As the founder of Sonder Pelvic Therapy & Wellness in Denver, she brings a whole-body, orthopedic-informed approach to pelvic floor care—working with postpartum women, endometriosis patients, runners, lifters, and anyone navigating the kind of pain and dysfunction that too often gets dismissed or undertreated. She made the move into pelvic health precisely because it was so underserved.

And when she started looking for a way to reach more women online (specifically those dealing with diastasis recti and core weakness), she found that the platforms available were equally underserving. She needed something that sat between a fitness app and an educational tool. Something her clients could explore, not just scroll through.

That became The Midline Project. And after researching everything available, Movement was the only platform that fit.

Can you tell us about your business and who you help?

My name is Amelia. I'm a pelvic floor physical therapist and the owner of Sonder Pelvic Therapy and Wellness here in Denver, Colorado. I combine orthopedic and pelvic‑floor expertise, so I don’t treat the pelvic floor in isolation—I look at how the whole body moves and functions together. In clinic, I help people rebuild in ways that actually translate to daily life and exercise, so they move forward with clarity and confidence—not more restrictions.

I was looking to create an online program specifically for females dealing with diastasis recti, abdominal weakness, things of that nature. When I was searching for a platform to use, Movement ticked all the boxes.

What problem were you facing before using Movement?

I was looking for something that bridged the gap between like a fitness app and something that was educational. So I didn't want my clients just staring at a program and scrolling through it. I wanted them to feel like they could bop around in the app and check out any pieces and parts to it—and Movement really, really helped with that.

What made you choose Movement over other platforms? Did you try any others?

I found out about Movement through another colleague and friend in the field who has used it for her programs. And after searching through multiple platforms, talking with AI, etc., looking at other ones, I really just wasn't getting what I was looking for. Movement had everything I needed: it had a community chat, it had really, really customizable functions to it between videos, pictures, and text, and I liked that people could complete a set of things and a specific movement.

What would you tell another coach or creator considering Movement?

If you have a vision and it feels overwhelming, I think Movement is a perfect place to start. And if you're somebody who wants to be able to manage the whole process yourself, it was perfect for me for that reason. I was able to do it all by myself without help.

And when I did need help with a question or two, everyone was really responsive via email and or video chat at Movement. And I was even able to send in questions periodically about small things that I knew probably were easy, but I couldn't figure out —and they were so sweet and helpful every step of the way.

Would you recommend Movement?

I have really enjoyed Movement. For the fee that it costs to have my app on there, I think is super, super reasonable and would highly recommend.

The Midline Project is exactly the kind of app that search results and social feeds rarely surface for the women who need it most—a clinician-built, education-first diastasis recti and core rehabilitation program, created by a pelvic floor PT with years of in-person clinical experience and a clear understanding of what's missing online.

For any pelvic floor physical therapist, women's health physio, or postpartum specialist looking to take their clinical expertise beyond the treatment room (or 1:1), Dr. Amelia's story is proof that it's possible to build something genuinely valuable without a tech team, without a big budget, and without compromising on what the program needs to be.
