How YouTuber Chase Mountains built Move after testing every major fitness platform

Chase Tucker AKA Chase Mountains has been making YouTube videos about hiking and fitness for 13-14 years, building an audience that loves getting outside and staying strong for the trails. But turning that knowledge into a scalable online platform? That's been a different kind of mountain to summit.

He tried MyCoach, JustCoach, Trainerize, MyPTHub, Passion, and Everfit—six different platforms over the years, each one falling short in different ways. Some were too rigid and hyper-personalized for 1:1 coaching. Others were cookie-cutter templates that didn't offer members any real autonomy or calendar functionality.

What he needed wasn't just another workout delivery tool. He needed a platform where members could browse programs like a menu and build their own training journey, with clean audio for breathwork training and complete design freedom—no developers required.

After years of "struggling with many different solutions and constantly chopping and changing platforms," he found Movement—the platform he'd been dreaming about. Chase built MOVE and finally stopped platform hopping: "I'm really hoping this is the last app I ever have to deal with. That's how I'm building it out in my mind—I can see this working for the long term."

Can you tell us about our business and who you help?

My name's Chase Tucker AKA Chase Mountains, and I've been making YouTube videos about hiking and fitness for 13 or 14 years. I've always had an online focus, and always wanted to create something that could reach a broad audience worldwide. Through MOVE, I help people connect with nature and maintain the ability to get back outside and spend more time in the mountains as they get older.

A big part of what we do is centered around breath training and mindset work alongside strength and conditioning. I really wanted to educate my members so they're not just taking in all of the things that I recommend, but they're actually selecting what they need as they go through this journey of learning their own body. It's about giving autonomy back to people—this isn't a "buy this one program and it'll fix your problem" approach. It's a long-term solution where people understand their bodies by trying lots of different things.

My overall vision is to enable people to get back out into the mountains or reconnect with nature as the inevitable entropy of getting older comes in. That's about the best thing I can do for humanity—get people to spend more time outside.

How did you build such a large YouTube following?

I made videos about what people want to hear about. In my case, that was gear—hikers just really love gear. I made loads of videos about gear and would sprinkle in the healthy things they need to know. Every now and then I'd make a video about training, breathwork, mindset, and strength and conditioning.

I built up the audience with the sweet treats they like, then started influencing them in subtle ways to make healthier choices. We don't get the views we used to on the health content that people really need to see, but it's provided a situation where I don't need to run ads. I have a big audience who know, like, and trust me.

And it's not to say you need a huge audience to do this—you could do it with much, much smaller numbers than I have.

What problem were you facing before using Movement?

I had a lot of frustrations with several platforms over the years. Other white labels like Passion.io didn't have the flexibility and functionality I needed, whereas more complex personal training software solutions didn't allow the clean user experience and scalability I was after.

I've tried so many—MyCoach, JustCoach, Trainerize, MyPTHub, Passion, Everfit. A lot of them are either very hyper-personalized where you're working one-on-one, or they're cookie-cutter and broad without offering members any real personalization. Most importantly, they don't offer a calendar system.

I used something called JustCoach which actually dissolved mid-service. They gave us a month and said, "Sorry, we're not offering the service anymore." It's just a nightmare to have this constant change. We really wanted to find one app we could stick to for a while and say, "Okay, this is going to hopefully do us forever."

I've been dreaming about better technology in my sleep for years. I was kind of astounded it took this long for something like Movement to exist.

What made you choose Movement over other platforms? Did you try any others?

  • Clean layout

  • Freedom from the app store and Google Play

  • Functionality

  • The look and feel

The first thing I really liked about Movement was the calendar feature. It's like having pictures on a menu for members—they can say, "Oh, that looks good. I'll add that into my calendar. I'll take this out." We can really give the autonomy back to the person where they can test and experiment and try new things.

The one thing that really sealed the deal was breath training. A lot of the other apps didn't have clean audio functionality, and a large part of what we do is centered around the breath and audio guides. Building all that out and having it look really nice and clean was a huge priority, especially when it's something that's not too well known. You need to be able to explain it really well and make it easy for people, because any kind of resistance will prevent them from actually doing the important things.

A clean layout where it just looks nice. And, I also loved the variety—there's not a set structure. You can change literally everything, which is kind of a double-edged sword because it gives you so many options. But having the ability to change literally anything on the layout is huge and very helpful.

How has Movement helped you grow, simplify, or scale?

The way my brain works, I need to be able to build out my ideas in real time. Planning something on a Google Doc or spreadsheet is very different for me personally—I need to see it evolve and build right in front of me, and then I make decisions. That's just how I work.

Movement has enabled me to stop procrastinating in a lot of ways and stop overthinking. I can just build and build and see how it evolves. That's been the big thing for me. It's really helped me stop overthinking and asking questions and criticizing my every move, and just build and see what happens.

My programs have changed a lot, so I didn't want to migrate all the old stuff from Passion—it's kind of old and I'd rather rebuild it from scratch. This is an evolution. I'm rebuilding specifically for the platform you guys have created. With that in mind, I'm now programming exercises and routines differently because you have the ability to switch exercises easily. I'm building my programs out for the layout that Movement presents.

What features or aspects of Movement have been most useful for your work?

It's relatively simple to build, the clean layouts, and customization.

I love that you have that free option in the beginning because it enabled me to be non-committal and just play around with it. I started by uploading YouTube links, then moved to uploading videos directly. Once I saw it worked, I committed and started the migration process to really build it myself.

I'm certainly not good with technology in terms of coding, but I think I have a bit of an eye for design and user experience. So I thought, "I can figure this out and build it out in the way that I think is logical for my kind of person."

One thing that was really helpful was having that call with Rudy where he knows the system so well. He's like, "Oh yeah, you just need to switch this on, move this there." I would love to have a call like that once a week with someone if that was the option, especially in the beginning phases.

"What I particularly liked about Movement is it's relatively simple to build, the clean layouts, and customization."

What feedback have you received from your members using Movement?

The first person I put on Movement, who was using one of our previous services, was like, "Oh my god, this is amazing. Everything loads really quickly. I love the layout."

She was a little confused initially about how the platform gives you two options for each workout—the follow-along versus the list view. It took her a little while to figure that out and how to remove a program. But other than that, it seems to be very intuitive for people testing it out. I'm quite hopeful.

What would you tell another coach or creator considering Movement?

I would certainly recommend Movement to other trainers and coaches. It's something I wish I had from the beginning. The potential to use it as a tool to impact many humans and develop a deeper understanding of the human body is basically limitless.

"It's something I wish I had from the beginning."

That's how Chase Tucker describes Movement after years of searching for a fitness platform that could match his vision. He tested six platforms—Mycoach, Justcoach, Trainerize, MyPTHub, Passion.io, and Everfit—and each one fell short. White label platforms like Passion.io lacked the flexibility and functionality he needed. More complex personal training software offered features but sacrificed the clean user experience and scalability he was after. None of them could handle the full range of what Move needed to deliver: hiking programs, breathwork training, plyometric workouts, strength coaching, and running programs—all in one cohesive platform.

Movement provided what others couldn't: clean layouts, complete customization, freedom from the app stores, and the scalability to grow without limits. Chase built Move exactly how he wanted it—and the platform finally lives up to the coaching inside it:

"The potential to use [Movement] as a tool to impact many humans and develop a deeper understanding of the human body," Chase says, "is basically limitless."
